2001: A Space Odyssey & Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was born in 1564.

1964 was the 400th anniversary of the birth of Shakespeare.

In 1968, The movie: 2001: A Space Odyssey screened.

Stanley Kubrick & Arthur C. Clarke, wrote the screenplay.

I believe Kubrick & Clarke would have been influenced by Shakespeare’s anniversary in 1964.

On the 24 January, 1965; Winston Churchill died. It was 400 years and 9 months? After Shakespeare’s birth.

Winston Churchill was a huge fan of Shakespeare.

Winston Churchill won a Nobel Prize in Literature for his writing. (He wrote more that I believe is humanly possible. Which is another story.)

The computer in the movie: 2001: A Space Odyssey was called HAL.

I believe that HAL was named after Prince Hal in Henry IV.

John Bell in his book: ‘On Shakespeare’ described Hal as:

“Hal is one of Shakespeare’s ‘new men’, whom he seems to regard with a mixture of fascination and distaste. They are creators of the Renaissance, students of Machiavelli – shrewd, calculation and cold-hearted.”

I won’t be surprised, if the chess-loving, Kubrick, based his calculating and cold-hearted computer: HAL. on Shakespeare’s Prince Hal.

HAL beat the human, playing chess?

Prince Hal, would later become King of England. Henry V.

In 1943, a propaganda movie called Henry V? was made.

It starred Laurence Olivier.

Henry V is about victory of the French in the Battle of Agincourt.

Agincourt happened on one day in 1415.?

Winston Churchill adopted his V for Victory hand-sign from the English archers at the Battle of Agincourt. Apparently; after the victory the Englishmen held up their two finger as a sign of victory. The French said that they would chop off the English Bowmen’s fingers/hand.

The main characters in 2001: A Space Odyssey was called Dave Bowman. Was Dave Bowman named after the Bowman from the Battle of Agincourt?

Nearly; 500 years, after Agincourt, World War One started.

Winston Churchill, was born in 1874?

At the beginning of World War One, Winston Churchill was 40 years old??

2001: A Space Odyssey’s plot involves the moon.

The first men to land on the moon on the 20/July/1969?

The 20th of July, is the 201st day of the Year?

Coincidence? I don’t think so.

Did Kubrick, shoot the moon landing?

And is 2001: A Space Odyssey connected to 9/11/2002?
